What You'll Learn

  • How to safely reset a circuit breaker after an overload causes it to trip.

Tools You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Flashlight

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Locate and open your breaker panel using the access door.

2

Spot the tripped breaker — it's the one that's sitting in between "on" and "off."

3

Flip it fully to Off, then back to On to reset the circuit.

4

Check the light or appliance that went out — power should be back!

Pro Tip

Always unplug whatever caused the trip before you reset that breaker — otherwise, it'll trip again in a flash.

Safety First

If it trips again, call a pro. Never force a breaker that won't reset.
